Standard Battery Heavy Duty Hook Up

The standard battery installation wiring can be a problem.

If the only one that ever rides the scooter is under 80 pounds, never trashes the scooter, does not go off road, does not go through puddles and does not try to climb Pike's Peak (see the Kahuna battery Heavy Duty Hook Up for some information on Pike's Peak) you may never have a wiring issue.

High stress loads on the motor, heavy drivers (we have seen 265 pounders) and hill climbing shoots the electrical load demand right through the roof.

HOWEVER, experience has shown us that sometimes that is not enough. Depending on who does the installation and what they know about being careful under the hood can be the difference of a nice ride or a long push.

The inline fuse MUST be installed on the side of the battery and must not wind up between the hood and the top of the battery (which is the case in the original installation).

Just the right foot in the wrong place will crush the fuse holder and ruin your whole day.

This hook up has a beefy inline fuse holder with a 30 amp slow blow fuse and 3M insulated male and female disconnects. This hook up is designed to be a direct replacement for the original wiring. The kit includes the wires to bridge the three 12 volt / 7 amp hour batteries (sometimes 9 amp hour batteries were used) to make up the 36 volts for the system.

The idea is to by pass the existing nylon connector that has been damaged or is a poor connector causing high resistance, overheating, poor power transfer and generally poor performance.

We highly recommend this item.

You must use a high quality ratchet type crimping tool with a die designed for insulated crimps to make this installation correctly.

This kit is only for the three 12 volt batteries and will not fit the Big Kahuna Battery.
